What is it and how does it work
HIFU Shurink, commonly known as Shurink Universe or Shurink Laser Lifting, is the new generation of HIFU. It is a new and improved variant of the High Intense Focus Ultrasound that is a non-invasive and non-surgical procedure that transmits ultrasonic waves onto the skin. As we age, our skin also does, and the elastin, fiber, collagen, and connective tissues in the dermis, are significantly reduced. Not only that, but skin moisture and facial fats diminish too, which gives off a sagging skin look on our faces. With this, the pores look prominent, and the skin becomes dull, making you look older than your actual age. Most of the time, botulinum toxin A or Botox and surgical lifting procedures are the appropriate treatment, especially with severe skin laxity and facial folds. However, many people see it as an exhausting treatment and may find it too invasive. Additionally, surgical lifting may lead to bruising, infection, nerve damage, swelling, and other anesthetic-related risks. Thus, non-invasive and non-surgical procedures are introduced, garnering substantial attention from the people.
However, it still depends on the doctor and the person undergoing the procedure, so choices for skin laxity treatments that range from non-invasive to invasive and non-surgical to surgical procedures are established and proposed. The HIFU shurink is a radiofrequency and infrared laser device that transmits heat and ultrasound waves into the deep dermis-specifically, the skin between the fat and muscle called the SMAS layer, without any damage to the epidermis to treat severe tissue laxity. It also triggers the skin to produce more robust collagen and elastin for the next three to four months.

Procedure
Before any other facial treatments or procedures here at the Renovo Skin Clinic, the trained technician will scan your face using our Skin Analysis machine to assess your skin condition. This procedure will analyze the skin damage to gauge and evaluate the appropriate treatment for you. Subsequently, the technician will escort you to the dermatologist’s room for a second consultation to know if you are compatible with the HIFU Shurink treatment. Additionally, the dermatologist will inform you if there are other procedures you can combine with the HIFU Shurink treatment if you’re interested. They will also guide you through the aftercare, results, expectations, and all other things you need to know about the procedure, including pre and post-treatment care. One of the facial treatments you can combine with the HIFU Shurink is the BB Shine treatment, a deep cleaning facial treatment. If you wish to incorporate the BB Shine treatment with the HIFU, you may, for it is a deep cleaning procedure that opens up your pores and sucks out the impurities from deep within.
If you have decided to incorporate the BB Shine treatment, the technician will first administer it to you before the HIFU Shurink procedure. First, they will thoroughly cleanse the face before using a vacuum tool to suck out the impurities, which include whiteheads and blackheads, from the pores. This procedure hydrates the facial areas, which leaves you with healthy, smooth, and moisturized skin. Although the treatment may leave your face red and flushed, it does not hurt at all, and it’s just the skin’s reaction to the vacuum.
Afterward, a calming gel will be slathered onto the face using an ultrasound machine to help it relax after being pulled many times due to the BB Shine treatment. Then, a topical numbing cream will be smeared on the skin for 20 minutes to help reduce any pain and discomfort throughout the HIFU Shurink treatment.
After 20 minutes, the HIFU Shurink treatment will now proceed. Since the HIFU Shurink treatment is the new and improved version for skin lifting, it hurts less than other variants, but you still need the topical numbing cream. Then, a conductive gel is generously applied onto the skin to help draw more ultrasound waves. With this, the ultrasound waves penetrate more onto the facial areas. The doctor will use the laser on the skin and focus on areas that need rigidifying, such as the jawline, cheekbones, and chin area. Please note that the HIFU Shurink procedure is only administered by the doctor, while other simple treatments, such as cleaning, are handled by trained technicians.
Then, hyaluronic acid is sprayed all over the skin to hydrate it and pump it up before generously applying a Diatomaceous Earth Mask, which will help absorb impurities that resurfaced throughout the procedure and help relax the probed areas. Lastly, the technician will apply serum and protected creams, and if you’d like, you can also ask for a BB cream and sunscreen for no extra charge, for this procedure has no downtime.
Aftercare

In a clinical study conducted on Korean patients with sagging skin on the face, abdomen, and thighs, results have shown that the skin elasticity of the participants has significantly improved 12 weeks after the treatments.
